 Hey, it's been a ha;f year and I plan to go back to regular posting...anyway, main CP maker Melster, after doing Banana standard ones, has now gone in Spangler's direction of different flavors..in this a dedicated one each..

The new flavors are

Lemon

Strawberry

Both of which Spangler had mixed with the classic orange banana ones.I haven't tried 'em but would very much like to. They certainly would've been interesting. There should be chocolate,but something seems nasty about how that would look LOL

Anyway, glad to be back on this blog..more to come..OH.North Riversaide CALIF. has a store near some of their shopping centers. It's called BIG BACK SNACKS (nice plug, no?) and has a number of different exotic candies like the above., FIVE AND BELOW has a lot of these.

For those who've always wondered, Pearson's SALTED NUT ROLL is MUCH more appealing to me, for reasons I cite below (I'm the one who notes it's thrice as big.) They have some other variations, like Peanut Butter. Hey,this is a REAL payday LOL!

Almost 150 years ago, Necco Wafers began their birth!

Welcome back..as anyone who reads this knows, I have had a longtime love affair with Necco Wafers,started way,way,way,way,WAY back in 1847, by the original Willy Wonka (LOLOL)_ O.M.Chase, who'd started his company in a very simple way back east, with great success, though,again, NECCO' as we know them,with multicolored/mulktiflavored format,wouldn't be around bhack that long. The real story began in 1901,with the colors and flavors listed before. I've recently started enjoying these again as of 2015 as noted..I have to go,more later

They could each easily be mixed with the eight others-hell, there's room enough in an average Spangler/Necco roll.

And they taste hella good as always (even though they ARE now made outside US, in Mexico,..)

Hi, back here..I have moved two counties--no, NOT two COUNTRIES LOL-but, TWO COUNTIES..to RIVERSIDE. from LA I have had a surprising very happy new home..we went to El Cajon's

Tom's Farms, est.1971, and had fun and lunch there (me, my mother and our longtime friends).While in the candy store there, there were all kinds of candies reviewed here and elksewhere.

Yes, TOM'S FARMS candies, like CIRCUS PEANUTS, as mentioned back in 2019, 2 yrs ago, and Candy Corn, Chowards, Necco/Spangler Wafers, BBBBats (Worrels),etc.,etc.,etc.,etc.,etc.

Of course, watchinbg diet, and we can't give candy to our beloved bichon frise dog....sorry, Deen..

(A candy lover's dream!) I have had occasional circus peanutds (CPs, as Cybele May has called them-go thru earler posts here) here in Riverside county,as well. Spangler (from their own bag,

at the former Pic/Save/Big Lots, and LIKE banaas,mas they should, NOT as bbq chips)!L:OL

Had Spangler Circus Peanuts from both the CVS brand (barbeque potato chip like) and (from Pic N Save) Spangler brand thremselves (banana), and from Dollar Tree and from Wal*Mart(sic), Melster's (ALWAYS BANANA!) Circus Peanuts.

Well, it's happened. A few days before, on Saturday, February 1, 2020, I found Splanger NeccoTM Sweethearts! In CVS/Pharmacy/La marcary, while waiting tos ee at the LA MIRADA THEATRE, the classic ARSENIC & OLD LACE, a box of Necco Sweethearts by Spangler, and noted the SPANGLER name..! I looked for its sisters and brothers. and then, after five minutes, there it WAS! A whole BOX of Spangler Sweethearts, following in Necco's candy steps.

Sadly, as of March 13, the stupid Covid 19 virus has closed many theatres, but as of mid June, things are opening again..

Delish.

I know I will HAVE some soon..


NOW. Could other Necco revivals from Spangler be far behind...INCLUDING (Necco) WAFERS? Clearly..

The ClarkTM Bar cups!

In keeping with Necco news (and attempts to keep ALL of my blogs GOING!) I'm happy to report that a local store, here in Whittier, CALIF., the former Pic 'n';Save (before, a Vons or something and a Market Basket even before), called Big Lots! (a large chain like the former stores were), has a Boyer-made Clark cups product, the Clark Bar.


Formerly made by Necco, these, of course, initially were not at all made by Necco but by Dr.(yes "Doctor") D.L.Clark in 1917. These were, as I've mentioned in the last 5 years of my blog, which I will celebrate..) the prototype/inspiration for 5th Avenue and Butterfinger. Currently, of course, Butterfinger is the main one (ya ever think that Bart Simpson would every yammer, "No body better lay a finger on my Clark bar", or, "Nobody better lay a finger on my 5th Avenue?" Seriously?

Okay,"No one better lay a scar on my Clark Bar?

"No one better spew on my Fifth Avenue?" Serious? I thought so.

But, anyhoo,  I digress.

With the above, I can say Clark Bars, and hopefully, Sky Bars, under the guiance of Boyer candies is coming back (and Spangler's revival of Necco Wafers and related products will.)

I also wish Mary Janes would, just not with Mary Jane as in marijuana! (Same for Squirrel nuts..Saw them at a Five below..do THEY l;ast as long as the WAFERS by Necco..?)

Hi, it's now 11/19, 5 months after my last post...starting now I present, # hashtags..to make reference a lot easier. (Awwww....:) It almost should be time that the famous #lollipop , #circuspeanut and #candycane maker Spangler releases the classic Necco wafers, just as before.

The flavors/colors should be as before
Brown - Chocolate
Pink - Pepto Bismol - I mean - Wintergreen :D
White - Cinnamon
Orange - (Cue the Trix Rabbit)-Orange
Purple - Clove
Green - Lime
Yellow - Lemon
  If everything goes according to plan.

At the latest. Necco/Spangler will have them out in February 2020. I can hardly wait. (So where are those long-lasting, already out Neccos..a store I know has their MARY JANES, MADE alrteady by Neccp (even though DEFUNCT!!@ ha ha) talk about a company whose products last a long time./)

Remember my post on Necco Wafers being continued by Spangler? Well, it's been 3/4 a year now...... ourt local store ran out but one uptown has them..by now Spangler (Circus Peanuts, Dum Dums 'n' all kinfds o'goodies)
is epected to bring them back and in 2020,m the Sweetheaerts! Brachs has been doing the sweet kind for years and they didn't disappoint this year. (If you'd rather prefer your Valentine's heart candies sour andf sweet, why, other makers have
some as well).

Hhoping for a sooner return of Necco Wafers to come..can't just eat one (WHOOPS, that's not THEIR famos motto!)

Cripsy I like but not so much whole peanut..

Carmel M&MS have had their own ad campaign..several ads i see theatrically run there, with one having the variety's candies, sitting on the back seat in a huge advertising campaign(??) office building, sitting so the candies are behind the outdoors.

Necco Keeps Right On!

Many of you no doubt like the much hated NECCO(TM) candy, whcih must rank with Boston Baked BeansTM, CANDY CORN(NO TM, unless BRACH'S has a final word, heh hee) and Circus PEANUTS (NO TM AT ALL!)
as worst opinion-garnering candy, though I lvoe all of these. Y'all no doubt heard ALSO of the notorious DEMISE of the wafers, not counting the  ones still left ot please us..WELL.. HAPPY DAYS!

old-timel, delicious, curious, Norman Rockwellian candies!

Pokies...

When we think of the word Pokey in ulture, me, or my namesake, Gumby's horse (see YOUR PONY PAL POKEY TOO), but there was a M&M/Hershey Ets like candy called Pokies for years sold at bulk bins in top places. Yeah, I don't at ALL blame you for being amazed...heh, The Canadians and others candies that they (like we call the powered pellets here, called, in Canada-name ROCKETS) bhave called Smarties are also like these..

Pokies had no TM (familiar?) or store available as a bag candy, so maybe "Pokies" either is ageneral namer for ir ot is a name like Circus Peanuts, or Candy Corn or those others, or something, like that kind of thing- a generic description of a candy..Pokies in short is a typical brandless type of name or even ov erall descriptor of M&Ms or Hershey-Ets.

DO YOU ever actually still eat THIS stuiff? Candy, Drink..or WAX? (Bottles, Lips)

Again, with the ever popular wax drink bottles. Many have put this inj with candy, along with good or bad (you know the usual suspects--kit Kat, Skittles, necco, Candy Corn, Licorice Gumdrops, Hershey's, Circus Peanuts, etc.). But these aren't really candy to me, either drink..or WAX?

Really.

Serkiously..? Has ANYBODY EVER had this WITOUT GETTING their FREAKING moth fulla WAX?  Then there's the ever popular WAX lips. Again As a "Rocky Horror Picture Show", "Don Knotts", "Miranda Sings" or "Mick Jagger" prop, for the lips and for tghe bottoes, to crush, please tell mre, who has ever EATEN the stuff, who's actually put it on your mouth.


(However, den't tell a soul: but I have wanted to eat scented wax  candles for my  more than 55 years on the planet.)

I dunno. Bottles might be good if you'd of decided to make candles..Lips for the above popular attributes.
